Louis Poulsen PH Lights

PH lights, designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, represent a pinnacle of mid-century modern lighting design. Henningsen, a Danish architect and designer, revolutionized lighting with his innovative use of layered shades and reflective surfaces to achieve glare-free, even illumination.

Among his most iconic creations is the PH Artichoke Pendant, introduced in 1958. This masterpiece features multiple staggered metal "leaves" arranged around a central light source. The design allows light to filter through the leaves, creating a soft, diffused glow and intricate patterns on surrounding surfaces. The Artichoke Pendant has since become a symbol of timeless elegance and sophistication in interior lighting.

Another renowned design is the PH 5 Pendant, also from 1958. Recognized for its distinctive shape and layered aluminum disc shades, the PH 5 directs light downward and horizontally, ensuring balanced illumination without glare. Its versatility makes it suitable for various residential and commercial spaces, adding both functional and aesthetic value.

The PH Snowball Pendant, with its rounded shape and intricate arrangement of white aluminum "petals," was another notable creation by Henningsen.
