Jasper Morrison is a British designer, born in London 1959. He is most well known for his minimalist, functional and timeless take on design. This approach is reflected in his work where he celebrates simplicity and practicality giving the pieces an understated elegance. He started his studies at the Royal College of Art in London in 1985 where he earnt a masters degree in industrial design. During his time there his work was influenced by many key contemporary design figures he met there. Morrisons design philosophy focuses on a term he created called “supernormal”, this term centers around the idea that objects can be out of the ordinary whilst also being simple and functional. His belief is that good design should not draw attention to itself, but blend seamlessly into everyday life as he stated ‘objects should never shout’.

He opened his own studio in 1986 which successfully worked with a range of renowned brands these include : Vitra, Flos, Alessi and Magis. Morrisons work includes a variety of pieces including furniture, lighting, tableware and home accessories. He creates pieces with a sense of elegance and calmness without relying on decoration. By not adding unnecessary flourishes and following trends his work becomes classics of design.
