Erwan Bouroullec
Designed for HAY by Erwan Bouroullec, Traverse is a range of outdoor furniture designed to naturally blend in wherever it is placed. Comprising a die-cast aluminium frame with slats in heat-treated ash, the furniture combines a robust construction with an inviting expression that naturally patinates to become more beautiful over time. With its well-balanced aesthetics and ergonomic design, Traverse’s collection of chairs, tables, benches, and a stool is easy to integrate into a wide range of private and public spaces.
Seat Cushion Collection
Designed to add extra comfort and functionality to Traverse’s collection of outdoor furniture, the Traverse Quilted Seat Cushion is specially formed to fit the seats of the different models. Crafted in durable fabric with a high UV resistance and water-repellent finish, the padded cushion features an anti-slip backing to keep it in place. The cushions are available in two colours and can be used all year round.
Materials & Sustainability
FRAME: Shot-blasted diecast aluminium with outdoor lacquer. Diecast aluminium parts are made of min. 60% recycled aluminium. Extruded aluminium crossbars used on Stool, Tables and Bench 114 are made of conventional aluminium
SLATS: Heat treated solid ash with outdoor wood wax oil
GLIDER: Black 100% recycled Nylon
*UV radiation will gradually change the surface colour of the wood, which will fade to form a silvery-grey patina. Depending on the intensity of UV radiation it may take from a few months to a few years.

Erwan Bouroullec
Erwan Bouroullec is a French designer and artist based in Paris. He attended the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts in Cergy before starting Bouroullec Studio with his brother. Together the design duo has transformed the design industry, offering new perspectives of materiality and purpose with an international portfolio that includes furniture, architecture, and artworks. Erwan uses a technically minded approach to create flexible, functional designs in his collaborations with other artists and creatives on multifaceted projects. For HAY, he has designed the Traverse Collection.
