Designer: Marcel Breuer, 1925
This is an original Knoll piece and has the Knollstudio logo and Marcel Breuer's signature stamped on each piece.
Marcel Breuer was an apprentice at the Bauhaus in 1925 when he conceived the first tubular steel chair. Named for his contemporary Wassily Kandinsky the tubular frame was inspired by a bicycle.
Dimensions: Height: 73cm (Seat Height: 42cm) x Width: 79cm x Depth: 69cm
Materials: Frame: Seamless tubular steel with a polished chrome finish or epoxy paint in onyx, white and dark red ultra matte.
Belting leather: highly durable Spinneybeck belting leather in a wide range of colours.
Haired Hide: Spinneybeck Haired Hide in different colours. Haired Hide is a natural material, markings are one of kind and will vary from piece to piece.
Canvas: canvas slings in a natural colour.
Glides: Opaque plastic glides shipped with each chair for optional on-site insertion to use on hard floors.
Note:in the red and black structure the screws are burnished and the glides are black. In the white structure the screws are galvanized and the glides are white.
The KnollStudio logo and the signature of Marcel Breuer are stamped into the base of the chairs.
